Streamworx Online VOD system Rating: Author: Derek Lins Posted:Sunday, May 06 2007, 21:11:39
Originally, I was very impressed with the way the script looked and the web interface until it was actually installed on my server. After discussing the product in detail and later trying it (after purchase) I came to the conclusion that the actual software was only %50 percent functional and the rest was still under development. I was not impressed with their knowledge of the EZDRM Pre-Deliver system which they claimed was directly integrated into their script. We had been using EZDRM with our current system for sometime; only after sharing numerous emails with the folks at StreamworkX did we realize their knowledge was very limited and their scripts did in no way use the pre-deliver which they claimed. They claimed that no manual had yet to be produced for the interface of the system thereby making the system even harder and very time consuming to learn. They also claimed that there were help buttons on each page. Although the buttons were linked to help pages linked to the buttons were in fact empty.
They are continuously fixing bugs and seem to be more concerned about trying to blame the problems on the server then admitting the numerous faults in their scripts.
In our opinion:
1- The scripts are very poorly written and filled with bugs.
2- Customer service is very poor and somewhat intimidating.
3- Their experience with DRM is limited to their demo only.
4- Their system does not use the Pre-Deliver DRM method as they claim.
5- They misrepresent the actual product on their website.
6- Most of their scripts are encoded so you can’t check or modify configurations.
After dealing with them for a couple of weeks I felt like my server was being used as a test run for StreamworX to beta test their product, and at our expense.
Over the past 10 years I have installed, configured, programmed and tested numerous scripts on an assortment of servers. The StreamworX system is about the worst I have ever seen and customer service and support is questionable.
